Privacy policy

Reclaim is a personal tracking app for smoking, vaping, drinking and medication, with check-ins and a journal. It is run by an independent developer in Germany. This page explains what Reclaim does with your information. In short: your data is saved in your own Google Drive, and we don’t collect, sell or share it.
What Reclaim stores, and where
Everything you enter (your profile and goals, habit logs, medication schedules and doses, check-ins, journal entries, settings) is saved as a file in your own Google Drive, in a folder called Reclaim. Live data is in Reclaim/Live Data and backups are in Reclaim/Backups. Reclaim runs in your browser and talks to your Drive directly. Our servers never receive, store or see this data, and no one at Reclaim can read it.
What Reclaim can access in your Google account
Reclaim uses Google’s “drive.file” permission. With it, Reclaim can only see and change files and folders that Reclaim itself created. It cannot see, list, read or change any other file in your Drive. When you sign in, Google gives your browser a temporary access token for your own Drive. That token stays in your browser and is used only to read and write your Reclaim files. We don’t receive it, and we don’t collect or keep your email address or any other account details.
How your information is used
Only to run the app for you: your browser loads your data when you open Reclaim and saves it when you make changes. We don’t use it for advertising, profiling, research or training of any kind, and we don’t sell it or share it with anyone.
Reclaim’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Where the app runs
Reclaim (at app.reclaim.day) and this website (at reclaim.day) are served over HTTPS by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, may keep standard request logs such as IP address and page requested. Those servers only deliver the app’s pages; they never handle your tracking data. Sign-in and storage are provided by Google under Google’s own privacy policy. The site and app have no advertising, no trackers and no analytics. The two fonts (Inter and Bricolage Grotesque) are served from reclaim.day and app.reclaim.day themselves, so no request goes to Google Fonts.
What stays in your browser
Reclaim sets no cookies. It keeps a few small preferences in your browser’s local storage on this device: the look you picked (reclaim-theme), which Today sections you folded away (reclaim-today-min), and that you have signed in here before (reclaim-signed-in), which only changes the greeting to “Welcome back”. They hold no tracking data or account details and are never sent to us. Signing out removes the sign-in note; clearing your browser’s site data removes all of them. Google’s sign-in window works under Google’s own privacy policy.
Cost
Reclaim is free. We don’t charge for it and we don’t earn money from your data.
If you choose to support its development, the “Support on Ko-fi” links (on this site and in Settings › About) take you to Ko-fi, which handles any payment under its own privacy policy. Reclaim shares nothing with Ko-fi, loads nothing from it, and doesn’t learn whether you gave.
Your choices
- Export: Settings has a private backup you can download at any time.
- Delete your data: delete the Reclaim folder in your Google Drive. Settings also has a “clear all” option that erases your live data; your separate backups stay until you delete them.
- Remove access: visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, choose Reclaim and select “Delete all connections”.
Health information
Reclaim holds information you may consider sensitive, such as habits, medication and mood. Because it lives in your Google account, its safety depends partly on how well you protect that account. We recommend 2-step verification. Reclaim is a tracking tool and doesn’t provide medical advice or diagnosis. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988 in the US, call 112 in the EU, or see findahelpline.com.
If you are in the EU, EEA or UK
Who is responsible. Reclaim is run by an independent developer in Germany (see the imprint). Your tracking data is stored in your own Google Drive and processed in your browser. We don’t receive it.
Legal basis. We process the little we do handle (the request logs described above) on the basis of our legitimate interest in delivering and securing the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The health-related information you enter is processed in your browser and stored in your Drive on the basis of your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), which you give by signing in and entering it, and can withdraw at any time by deleting the Reclaim folder or removing Reclaim’s access.
Your rights. You can access, correct, export and erase your data yourself in the app and in Google Drive. You can also ask us about the request logs at the address below. You have the right to object, to restrict processing and to complain to a data protection authority, for example in the country where you live; in Germany, the authority of your federal state.
International transfers. Cloudflare and Google may process data outside the EU and EEA, under the safeguards those companies provide, such as standard contractual clauses. Request logs are kept for the period Cloudflare’s own policy states; we keep no other data.
Children
Reclaim isn’t intended for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and, for meaningful changes, say so in the app.
